Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC)
The Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas - CSIC) is Spain's largest public research institution, with over 10,000 employees nationwide. As the primary agent of the Spanish System for Science, Technology and Innovation, CSIC generates knowledge, provides expert advice to public and private institutions, delivers high-level doctoral and postdoctoral training, promotes scientific culture, and manages unique scientific infrastructures. The Instituto de Geociencias (IGEO-CSIC-UCM), in close partnership with Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), employs ~100 staff, including ~50 permanent members (35 research professors and 15 technicians/administrators). IGEO provides postgraduate education in geosciences, geophysics, and numerical modeling. The Física del Clima y Cambio Climático (CLIMA) group is highly active in atmospheric and climate dynamics, paleo-climate, and atmosphere-ocean-ice interactions, leading national, international and EU projects. IGEO will contribute directly to SLICE by assessing the chemical and climatic impacts of space launches.
