Founded in 1834, ULB has a long tradition of excellence in Research with four scientific Nobel Prizes, one Fields Medal, three Wolf Prizes, and two Marie Curie Excellence Awards. It is one of the largest and most recognised Research Universities in Belgium, with a student population of 38,000 in three campuses, and almost 2,000 PhD in progress.

ULB was awarded the HR Excellence in Research logo in 2013. The Aero-Thermo-Mechanics (ATM) research group comprises 10 professors, 14 postdoctoral researchers, and more than 60 PhD students.

The group’s expertise in chemical kinetics, atmospheric entry flows, gas-surface interaction modeling, physics-informed machine learning, and reduced-order combustion modeling will be utilized in SLICE.
