Dr. Federico Bariselli

Dr. Federico Bariselli graduated in Aeronautical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2013 and obtained a Master-after-Master in Fluid Dynamics from VKI in 2015. In 2020, he completed a joint PhD at VKI and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel on the modelling of meteor entry flows in the rarefied regime with applications to radio detection. He received the von Karman Prize in 2013, the AIAA Thermophysics Best Student Paper Award in 2019, and the Solvay Award for his PhD thesis in 2020. Since 2022, he has been a Research Engineer at VKI, coordinating and leading projects in the Aerothermochemistry and Rarefied & Plasma Flows Research Expert Groups. His main research interests include hypersonic re-entry flows, space debris ablation modelling, electric propulsion systems, and meteor science.
