Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stefanos Fasoulas completed his PhD in 1995 and was Full Professor for Space Systems and Utilisation at TU Dresden from 1999-2010. Since 2010 he holds the Chair for Space Transportation Technology at the University of Stuttgart and is the Managing Director of IRS since 2014. His field of research is in Space Systems Engineering, Re-entry problems, Sensor technologies, and Direct Simulation Monte Carlo method. He worked within multiple projects together with ArianeGroup, ESA, DLR, and other industrial partners. Since 2024 he acts as the spokesperson for the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1667 “Advancing Technologies of Very Low Altitude Satellites (ATLAS)”, a structured research program supported by the German Science Foundation (DFG). He published over 100 peer reviewed articles and holds several patents. He also supervised over 50 PhD, over 250 master and over 250 bachelor theses.
